Photos:

Photographer Cara Jones will be coming to class the week of May 4-8. Students must have their costumes on and hair fixed neatly off the face. Cara will have a cd(containing the images) available for purchase at the Recital. 

Recital, Practice Dates, Dress Rehearsal, Costumes:

Our annual Recital will be held on Sun., May 18 at the Stfx Chapel Auditorium. There will be two identical shows: 1pm and 7pm. The show will be approximately 1.5 hrs. All students will be in both shows, as it is the same show performed twice. We have two shows, to give the students the opportunity to perform twice and for family/friends to watch them twice. Students must arrive for each show at least 35 mins before it begins.

The dress rehearsal will be 2:00 to 5:00pm on Sat., May 17 at the Auditorium. All students must attend, in full costume, and stay for the duration of the practice. Students ONLY are permitted to attend the dress rehearsal. Adult and teen students will be taking care of the younger students. Students can bring water to drink and a light healthy snack, so as not to stain the costume, or leave a mess at the Auditorium.  The length of this practice is necessary to do a solid run through of the show and get comfortable with practicing on the stage.

Students have been told at class what they are required to wear, i.e. Step – outfit they wear to class and a hair ribbon match their leotard. They will be given a sash. Parents with questions regarding this can ask Maureen or Carla at class.

After the 7pm show, students must put the costumes they were given(as a loan), in the container in their dressing room, labelled “Costumes”. 

 

There will be a short practice for each group at the Auditorium, the week of the Recital, as follows:

Tickets:

Enclosed with this notice are Recital tickets which students have been given to sell. The tickets are mainly sold in advance. There are two types of tickets, single and double pass. The white tickets are valid for one show(doesn’t matter which show) and cost $8.00/adult, $6.00/child(under 12 yrs). The pink tickets are valid for both shows and cost $10.00/adult, $8.00/child. The double pass ticket is only available up to the first week of May. It will not be available the day of the Recital. We are trying to ensure a good size audience for the students to perform in front of. Extra tickets are available upon request, as well as exchanging types of tickets, i.e. a single for a double. All ticket money is due, at the very latest, the week of May 4-8, the same week of picture taking.

* Please ensure that students attend all these final practices. They have worked all year on mastering routines and have done very well. They will feel more confident performing if they don’t skip classes.

 


DANCE NOTICE

Week of March 23, 2008:

There will not be any dance classes on Monday, March 24, 2008, due to the Easter Monday holiday.

The times for the next four Sunday practices(March 16, April 6, 13, 20) will be:

Musical Theater - 3:00 to 5:30 pm
Big Spender - 5:30 to 6:30 pm
Performance Group - 6:30 to 8:00 pm

 




Week of February 24, 2008:

There will not be any dance classes the week of March 10-14, March Break.

Week of January 27, 2008:

There was an error in the last notice concerning the Sunday practice dates. There will not be a class on March 23rd (Easter Sunday). The dates are: Jan. 27, Feb. 17, Mar. 2, 16,  Apr. 6, 13, 20, 27,  May 4, 11 (possibly).

The practices will be held at St. Joseph’s Community Center at the following times: 

Musical Theatre - 4:00 to 5:30pm 

Big Spender - 5:30 to 6:30pm 

Performance Group - 6:30 to 8:00pm 

If practice times may vary slightly, shorter or longer students will be notified. Students are to wear dance clothes, any color, as well as black gym slippers or jazz shoes. Outdoor footwear is prohibited in the gym.

DANCE NOTICE

Week of November 26, 2007:

The first 11 week session of dance classes is coming to an end. The following dates are the final class for each group.

Monday classes – Dec. 10
*Class was cancelled on Nov.12. The makeup class will be added on the 2nd session.

Tuesday classes – Dec. 4

Wednesday classes – Dec. 5
*The final class will be added on to the 2nd session.

Parents are invited to view their child’s class on the final day of this session.

Dance Apparel – Tshirts, hoodies and dance pants with the dance school logo on them will be available for sizing. Orders will be taken on the final day of classes. A group order will be placed the second week of December.

The Winter/Spring session of dancing will be a 13 week session beginning the week of January 21. Registration will be from January 4 to 19.

Musical Theatre & Performance Group - practices will be held Sundays on the following dates: Dec. 9, Jan. 27, Feb. 17, Mar. 2, 23, Apr. 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4
*Additional classes may be added on if necessary. Students must attend all practices, so they can learn the material.

The following dates and times are for the Musical Theatre and Performance Group classes for the first session of dance. Classes will be held on Sundays at the St. Joseph’s Hall, next to the church, a couple of kilometres past my dance studio. If class times are extended and if there is a change in venue, students will notified.

*Reminders - Students are welcome to bring water to drink for the class break, but not food. Also, please do not dance with tap, in the Waiting Room  as it damages the floor. Thank you.
