Welcome
to the 2011-12 season of dance. The following is a list of class dates for the
12 week Fall session. Please note:
Some class dates and times have been changed in December, to avoid conflict
with the dance teachers’ University exam schedules.
Monday – Sept. 19, 26 Oct. 3, 17, 24 Nov. 7, 14, 21, 28(parents view class) Dec. 5,
10. The final class will be in the
second session – Jan. 9, 2012.
Tuesday – Sept. 20, 27 Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25 Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29(parents view class) Dec.
6(just Hiphop IV will be moved to Dec. 7 from 7:25-8:25)
Wednesday – Sept. 21, 28 Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30(parents view class) Dec.
7(just Technique and Teen Ballet will held on Wed. Dec. 14, not Dec. 7, at the
usual times)
Thursday – Sept. 22, 29 Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec. 1(parents
view class) Friday Dec. 9(all Dec. 8 classes will be held on Dec. 9)
*Please make sure you
know the level your child is in, as in I, II, III, IV, to avoid confusion when
class days/times are rescheduled.
CLASS VIEWING – Parents are invited to view their child’s class the
week of Nov. 28 to Dec. 1. Since the space is limited we ask that parents/guardians don’t
bring too many others with them.
DANCE SCHOOL APPAREL – We are now taking orders for dance school jackets($80.),
hoodies($44.), t-shirts($22.) and sweatpants($46.). All prices include tax. The
jackets come in all sizes, are waterproof with a hood and with the student’s
name on the back. Samples are available. The order deadline is Thurs. Dec. 1 to
be in for Christmas. All orders must be prepaid. This is a one time order for
this year, as a minimum of 10 items must be ordered to maintain the price.
SECOND SESSION OF CLASSES – Classes will resume after Christmas the week of Jan.
9, 2012. This will be the beginning of the second session, which consists of 14
classes. This year we are beginning the session a few weeks earlier and
therefore ending a few weeks earlier.
RECITAL – Our annual Recital will be held on Sunday, Apr. 29 with the Dress
Rehearsal on Sat., April 28, as well as some more intensive practices the week
of.
CHOCOLATE BARS & CLASS FEES – Students still owing for chocolate bars and class fees
have been contacted and must pay the
amount owing this week. Also, congratulations to Mattie Martell for selling the most boxes of chocolates and winning
the $100. prize.
MUSICAL
THEATRE & PERFORMANCE GROUP – The first
two dates of Theatre and Performance Group will be Sun. Nov. 13 & 20. The
classes will take place here at the dance studio with Theatre from 3-4:00pm and
Performance from 4-5:00pm. The classes
will continue in the second session. Any
students interested in joining these classes are welcome as we are just
beginning. Eilidh Kyte, our ballet teacher, will be teaching the Flamenco
in Performance for students age 11+. In Theatre we will be creating a piece
using songs from the Disco era.
CANCELLATIONS
– When school(Antigonish town
schools) is cancelled because of inclement weather, dance classes will also be
cancelled. Cancellations will be posted on the school website as well as a
message put on the store answering machine.
